A few US state groups that have been headed by New York, have been investigating Facebook for the possibility of antitrust violations and plans on filing a lawsuit against the company within the next week.

The would-be the second lawsuit a social media giant has faced this year. The first one had been by the Justice Departments lawsuit against Google, a month ago.

Over 40 states had planned on signing up for the lawsuit while keeping them anonymous.

Facebook has declined to comment on this issue and so has the lawyers related to the case.

The Federal Trade Commission, whose commissioners had come together on Wednesday, were able to file a complaint that linked with the administrative law judge or in district court.

The details of what will be included in the complaint have yet to be disclosed. A complaint that is ongoing is that the social media giant constantly wishes to take over smaller rivals such as Instagram and WhatsApp.

Mark Zuckerberg, the company’s CEO has defended the controversial acquisition and also fought that they have a lot of rivals, which include other tech companies.

The Justice Department and FTC had started the antitrust investigations into the four huge companies which contain Apple and Amazon along with Facebook and Google.
