Facebook has plans of releasing its new service in the UK, Germany, France, India and Brazil in the next few months after it has already released it in the US last year.
At the moment, the company’s service pays US publishers for content and attains original reporting from over 200 outlets, which also includes thousands of local news organizations.
The social media giant has 2.7 billion active users per month, and it has been under scrutiny for its neglectful approach towards fake news reports and disinformation campaigns, which a lot of people believe might have had an effect on the 2016 presidential campaign, which was won by Donald Trump.
Mark Zuckerburg, the company CEO responded to the concern that arose and said that they would be prioritizing “trustworthy” news in its feed by finding high-quality outlets.
