Google has been testing out the dark mode feature for Google Search on the users desktop. This option is accessible for a select number of users and works alongside the system theme of the users desktop.
Google has yet to reveal the date of its public release of this feature. The search giant had spoken to The Verge and said, “We’re always testing new ways to improve our experience for our users, but don’t have anything specific to announce right now.”
Currently, the dark mode is not an option that users can manually turn on. If a user wishes to be a part of the dark mode testing, they will need to go to the incognito tab on Search and a “Dark theme is now available” message will appear, which they will need to pick.
Once this has been chosen, users will be able to go to the settings menu and choose between the dark theme, light theme and device default.
