Google has confirmed that it will continue to let its staff from home till June 2021. This plan was explained in an email sent to staff by CEO Sundar Pichai.
“To give employees the ability to plan ahead, we are extending our global voluntary work from home option through June 30, 2021, for roles that don’t need to be in the office,” Pichai wrote.
This extension will be the most aggressive move made to date, regarding remote work policy. The threat of the coronavirus not slowing down anytime soon, have made companies rethink their policies.
In May, the CEO did allow a few employees to come back to work while maintaining a safe distance from each and the company’s occupancy staying around 10%. At the same time, Twitter said that it will be allowing its staff to remote work on a permanent basis.
Depending on when the pandemic slows down, it is possible that some of the largest tech companies will be extending their remote working policies.
