Microsoft has come up to Pinterest recently, relating to a possible deal to take over the $51 billion social media company, the Financial Times said.
At this moment, the negotiations are not active.
A general shift to virtual interactions steering towards enlarged engagement on social media platforms profited Pinterest too, along with its monthly active users rising 37% to 459 million in the fourth quarter.
In 2020, the company had added on 100 million active users, which is a record.
Pinterest’s shares have gone up more than seven times since the start of the pandemic last year. According to the FT, Pinterest has already indicated that it wishes to stay as an independent company.
Advertisements besides Pins and posts are the way Pinterest has been generating its revenue.
Neither companies have commented on this matter yet.
